Ishvara refers to the personalized aspect of the supreme cosmic spirit. He/She is the infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, and all-powerful and the source of all knowledge, love & compassion - when you love someone, it is in fact God in him/her that you truly love, and it is the God in you as well that is giving the love.
Although there can be many explanations & translations of Ishvara, the one we believe that capture the essence is derived from Sanskrit word 'Sat Chit Anand', meaning Infinite Truth, Consciousness resulting in Bliss. Therefore reminding us that in the end beneath all our personal suffering, sorrow and conflicts we are still perfect beings.
The centre dot also known as the 'Bindu' in Sanskrit symbolises a focalised energy deposit where the powers of creation are gathered in one supreme unity or pulse. Also according to the hindu mythology the Bindu represents Lord Shiva himself, the source of all creation and also signifies the stillness and silence in which meditation can take us
The full inner circle stands for perfection where nothing is lacking. A never ending union of beginning and end, it also represents universal evolution
The wheel stands for endless cycle of life and existence. It also represents 'Karma' the law of cause and effect and the result of action or inaction
The lotus symbolises purity and variety with every petal representing a distinct aspect. Just like the seed of a lotus embedded in the mud of a lake or a pond breaks through to blossom in the free air and sunlight. Similarly the significance of lotus in our lives emphasises the absolute force of the supreme self and the ability of every person to break through and choose how they act in any given set of circumstances or situation.
Also know as Enso (Japanese for Circle) Zen symbol of the absolute, the true nature of existence and enlightenment. It is a symbol that combines the visible and the hidden, the simple and the profound, the empty and the full. As an expression of infinity it is painted so that there is a slight opening in the circle showing that the Enso is not contained in itself, but that it opens out to infinity and that nothing happens in isolation
The twelve petal lotus also represents the 'Anahata' (Heart Chakra) which in Sanskrit means unhurt implying that beneath all our personal pain and sorrow there is a wholeness, boundless love and a well spring of compassion. According to the Tantric thought the fourth charka is where Ishvara resides, and as the centre point of seven charkas it is considered to be the starting point of higher consciousness
